French Biography

Née en 1963 à Epinay-sur-Seine, Isa Sator est une artiste peintre et dessinatrice, diplômée du Centre culturel de la Guerche-de-Bretagne, spécialité peinture. Par la suite, l’artiste étudie le droit afin de devenir avocate, mais la vie parisienne ne lui plaît pas et elle s’installe donc en Nouvelle Calédonie pour exercer. Après son mariage, elle abandonne le milieu légal et reprend sa formation artistique pour apprendre le dessin au centre d’Art de Nouméa et collaborer avec Michel Rocton, qui lui enseigne la sculpture. Après plus de dix années passées sur l’île du Pacifique, elle rentre à Paris, où elle réside et travaille encore actuellement. Toutes ces années auprès des maîtres de Nouméa ont marqué son oeuvre, spécialement en ce qui concerne son utilisation d’une palette de couleurs vives et lumineuses. Celles-ci constituent à la fois le fond et la forme de son travail.

English Biography

Born in 1963 in Epinay-sur-Seine, Isa Sator is a painter and designer, she graduated from the Cultural Center of Guerche-de-Bretagne, with an specialization in painting. Afterwards, she studied law to become a lawyer, but she did not like Parisian life so she decided to settled in New Caledonia to exercise her profession. After her marriage, she abandoned the legal environment and resumed her artistic training by following drawing courses at the Art Center of Noumea, where she had the opportunity to work, as well with Michel Rocton, who taught her about sculpting. After living more than ten years on the Pacific island of Noumea, she returned to Paris, where she currently lives and works. All the years spent with the art masters of Noumea influenced her work, especially in regards to the use of a color palette made of bright, brilliant colors. which constitute the shape and the background of her work.
